Privacy Policy

Spleis ("we", "our", or "the app") is a bedtime story generator designed for parents to create safe, personalized stories for their children. We take your family's privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the app handles, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

All app data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

• Generated stories
• Your selected preferences (language, age range, story length)
• Your child's name, if you choose to provide one

This data never leaves your device except when generating a new story (see section 2). We have no servers, no databases, and no way to access your locally stored data.

2. Story Generation & OpenAI

When you tap "Generate Story", the app sends a request to OpenAI's API to create the story. The information sent includes:

• The selected hero, theme, and setting
• The chosen age range and story length
• Your child's name, if provided (optional)
• The selected language

This data is sent solely to generate the story and is processed according to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. We use OpenAI's API with the data retention opt-out, meaning your prompts and generated stories are not used to train OpenAI's models.

No other personal information (device ID, location, email, etc.) is sent with these requests.

3. No Accounts or Authentication

Spleis does not require or offer user accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no email collection. You download the app and start using it immediately.

4. Crash Reports

We use Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports. This helps us identify and fix bugs. Crash reports may include:

• Device model and iOS version
• App version
• Stack traces and error logs

Crash reports do not contain any personal data, story content, your child's name, or any information you enter in the app.

5. No Tracking or Analytics

Spleis does not use any analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools. We do not collect usage data, behavioral data, or device identifiers beyond the anonymous crash reports described above.

6. No Advertising

The app contains no ads of any kind. We do not integrate with any advertising networks and do not share data with advertisers.

7. Subscriptions & Payments

Subscriptions are handled entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. All billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple under their Privacy Policy.

8. Children's Privacy

Spleis is designed to be operated by parents and guardians, not directly by children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

The only child-related data the app handles is an optional first name used to personalize stories. This name is stored only on your device and is sent to OpenAI solely for story generation (not for identification, profiling, or any other purpose).

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions regarding children's data.

9. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored on your device, you have full control:

• Delete individual stories from within the app
• Delete all data by uninstalling the app

There is nothing stored on our servers to delete, because we have no servers.

10. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

• OpenAI API — for story generation (Privacy Policy)
• Sentry — for anonymous crash reporting (Privacy Policy)
• Apple App Store — for subscription management (Privacy Policy)

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
